Specialized Experience Required:
GS-11:
One year of specialized experience which includes meeting ANY TWO of the following:
1) Apply professional geotechnical engineering concepts and analyses for design of new or evaluation of existing structures or facilities; 2) perform field inspections of completed civil works projects, particularly dams and levees, for operational condition and signs of distress; or 3) review and check contract drawings, quantity estimates, and technical provisions of the specifications performed by others for conformance with good engineering practice, design requirements and/or drawing standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09) or equivalent level. OR Education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:
Civil Engineering. OR Combination of Education and
Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-12:
One year of specialized experience which includes MEETING:
1) Perform geotechnical engineering analyses (settlement, stability, seepage, bearing capacity, etc.) for design of new or evaluation of existing structures or facilities using commercially available geotechnical software packages such as SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, SIGMA/W, LPILE, ALLPILE, Pile Buck, GRLWEAP, FLAC3D, PLAXIS, and UTEXAS; and MEETING ANY TWO of the following:
2) execute geotechnical investigations and analyses required for design or retrofit of complex facilities including, but not limited to, earth dams, dikes, levees, foundations, floodwalls, roads, pavements, earthwork, navigation, drainage, utilities, and bridge abutment construction; 3) resolve complex problems considering pervious and impervious soils, economic feasibility, seepage, stability of slopes and foundations, and methods of construction as they pertain to the structure under design; 4) participate in contract negotiations by writing standards and contract specifications; or 5) perform inspections of completed civil works projects, particularly dams and levees, for operational condition and signs of distress. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) or equivalent grade level. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS). For GS-11:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
